Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Heavyweight contender Frank Mir have been officially named as coaches for The Ultimate Fighter Season 8.The announcement was made on Spike TV yesterday. This news has been met with mixed reviews from fans, as it means that Nogueira will have to wait until December to defend his title.This title defence will now, undoubtedly, come against Frank Mir, as has been the custom in most other series'.
The series is tipped to feature both Welterweights and Heavyweights, going back to the format of the first few series'. The newer formats have featured sixteen fighters from one weight class, rather than two. It is possible that the UFC has made the decision to split weights due to the general public dislike for heavyweight fighters. The series will air at the end of the year, with the finale taking place in December. More information will be given as we learn it.
