At today's weigh ins for UFC 85, welterweight fighter Thiago Alves failed to reach the 170lb weight limit.Instead of having to drop the extra weight, Alves and his opponent Matt Hughes agreed to fight at a catch weight of 174lbs.
Alves was found guilty of using a banned diuretic before one of his fights, which is a sure sign that he struggles to amke weight for his bout. We will have to wait and see if this heavy weight cut will take it's toll on Alves.
